Culture studies? Really?

Well, what can I say? I get really into research projects, and frequently these days they land in this broad bucket. I'm interested in how stuff works, and sometimes that stuff is just us humans—how we think, how we organize, what entertains us, and what we like to do.

It's also connected to history and all the other things I like. I like to say that "culture is downstream of power, economics, and politics" because it's a lagging indicator. Those things are a sum of our choices, and the choices we're making show up in our culture. But also, to steal from William Gibson—culture, like the future, is rarely distributed evenly.

My first project here might surprise people. It's about hallyu.
