The story so far...
Why tell stories? About the past? Is the past even fun—to say nothing about even being past?
The goal of any storytelling endeavor is to entertain. To paraphrase Raymond Chandler, most fictional stories endeavor to be realistic to the extent that they are about realistic people behaving in an intelligible manner when confronted with sensible and believable scenarios.
Sometimes, there's really no substitute for the real deal. I like telling stories from our collective human past because I find that the actual details of history surprise, enterain, and inform people. "You can't really know where you're going unless you know where you've been."
I like to present history as a story—doing my best to not spoil the "plot twists and surprise endings"—this is history as a mystery feature, sometimes funny, sometimes dramatic. If we're not careful, I could end up a podcaster.
